e32 air-con trouble!

Hi group,

A colleague of mine is having trouble with his climate controlin his '91 model 735i.
When he turns the drivers-side temp control all the way down, his car is filled with
lovely cool air, no troubles. But when he moves the drivers side temp control
slightly off of the min position, say 17 degrees C,  his blower speeds up and blasts
hot air on the drivers side only, the other side is lovely and cool. Its almost as if
it goes into 'full defrost' mode. Has anybody come across this before and have any
sugestions?
