  jay...
         use a standard paint-remover to start with,and clean up the rest 
using 0000 guage steel wool soaked in laquer thinner.you can also use one of 
the milder kitchen scrubbing sponges for teflon pans with the laquer thinner 
if you like.Don't use the steel wool on the rubber insert if that's 
painted,just a mild sponge.
          If the paint is very thin,a combination of orange compound thinned 
with laquer thinner on a heavier teflon sponge may remove it all.You can 
even add a little 409.If you have access to a strong electric polishing 
wheel,using the orange compound and laquer thinner on it's pad should burn 
it right off.
