E38 Front Pads

I talked to Chuck (another 95 740i E38 owner) 
and he bought the Axxis D1131M pads made for the 88-95 E32 from Vertex and 
he said they work fine for him. I'm nervous about doing this, as Vertex AND 
Steve G (Ultimate Garage) both said they aren't a
"fit".

It appears the D1131 pads can be made to fit if you don't mind sacrificing
a 30% reduction in pad surface area.  Also, the spring clips on the inner
pads are much longer on the E38/E39 cars.  I personally wouldn't downsize
the pads for sake of clean wheels.  SD
