Hard to Steal

The new e46 BMW's are pretty tough to steal because they have a computer chip 
embedded in each key.  The chip communicates with the car when in the 
ignition and they agreed on a new random code number to use for the next 
time.  Unless that code is present in the key (up to four codes for four 
keys) the car will not start.  Most thieves want easier pickens.
