Matt, I had a simliar problem for weeks. It baffled me. But try looking at your battery. Especially the leads and if they're loose. Make sure they're rock hard on the battery. I kicked myself for weeks after. It still makes me cringe. This solved my problem. And I asked tons of BMW specialists, e-mail lists, x-perts etc etc. Give it a try.
