Re: Late 80's automatics no good?

I read somewhere that the automatic transmission in the 87+ bimmers is
only good for 125K miles or so.
I was considering selling my 86 535I 5 speed with 265K miles to get a 87
535I Auto with 138K miles. I drive in alot of stop and go rush hour, and
Im about ready for an automatic again.
Any comments are welcome, are these trannies really bad after 125K? and
if so, what model/year should I consider to avoid this model
transmission?
