Flush coolant or just replace it?

I noticed that my E36 Bentley manual's procedure for replacing 
coolant doesn't include flushing the cooling system before replacing 
the drained coolant.  I've always done this in previous cars per 
their manuals; is there a reason why the Bentley manual doesn't 
include this step?
