John, it depends when the car was built or is going to be built.
If it's not built yet, the dealer can tell you which week it will be
built. Get your car's production number (put it on your deposit
agreement); it uniquely identifies your car. A week before it's
built, the dealer will be able to provide the VIN for the car.
If it's already built, you should have a VIN on your deposit
agreement.
In general, it's around 45 days for assembly-to-delivery if you're on
the West Coast, 35 days if you're on the East Coast. Best thing to do
though is ask your dealer for the status. You can even find out when
your car's ferry is coming in to port; see below.
