RE: weird chip questions

Hi folks,
	Need you help with a weird chip question. My mechanic has installed
an '91 3.5L (M60?) engine into his old '87 535i that used to house an 3.5L
M30. The intake, AFM, all the sensors _and_ Motronic stayed from the old '87
M30 setup (he got lazy on a complete wiring upgrade ;-). Amazingly, the car
runs. And runs flawlessly. 
	Now he wants to chip this thing. 
	Will an M30 JimC chip (nominally for an '87 535) work for this
application? 
	Is chipping this car without a custom tuning session a complete
lunacy?

P.S: Although he cheeped out on a wiring swap, he did take the time to
augment the engine swap with a complete E36 M3 interior transplant,
auto->manual transmission swap, plus suspension, headers + fake cat +
muffler upgrades. All that effort, and his e28 is still adorned with a
lovely pealing purple tint on the inside and peeling paint on the outside.
