Oil Service Indicator

I've driven over 11000 miles on my '95 M3 and I'm still in the green lights
zone. I changed my oil/filter thrice and getting ready for another. Is the
indicator faulty? Why is gauge running so bloody slow? I drive hard, and
then sit in traffic most of the time. Luckily I just go but the 3000-5000
rule. Any ideas? I didn't have any luck with the Bentley, but welcome any
referrals that might be in the book. Thanks.
