For sure starts, stops and turns I've relied on studded snows on all four 
corners of my '85-535.  They are like riding on a cogwheel railroad.  NO 
SLIPPAGE!  You can even measure how good your ABS is working by measuring the 
spaces betweeen scratch marks in glare ice conditions.  Three sets and 13 
years has made me a believer.  Downside is the noisey whirring of the studs.  
Everything is a compromize.
