Grettings fellow Dawgs!!
First of all I would like to say I wish I could have been at the NCC
Autocross. Sounds like Amanda was quite the eye full. I WOULD HAVE TAKEN A
PICTURE THOUGH!!
Anyways I did the Inspection II on my 95 325i this past weekend and I must
say I had fun. I also changed the radiator and thermostat. (I changed the
water pump the weekend before) The Inspection itself is quite doable. It is
time consuming but not hard to do. I even changed the gear oil to that red
line stuff and what a difference. Shifts are alot smoother now. It aint no
short shifter but it did improve the quality of the shifts. My spark plugs
were black when I pulled them. Car has 82k on it. Is that normal wear for
plugs?? And now my car runs like a champ! I dunno if it was the new pugs
or just the fact that it needed the Inspection but I can definately feel an
improvement. I recommend anyone who is contemplating taking their car to
the stealer to get REAMED to do it themselves. Like I said it dosn't take a
rocket scientist to change all the necessary items and in the end you save a
few hundred $$$. That can't hurt! They only thing that is a must besides
the parts and basic mechanical knowledge is a repair manual. Very handy
thing. ;-)
If anyone wants any details on the how to e-mail me privately and I will try
to help as much as I can. If you have ANY doubts about being able to do it
yourself take it to a dealer or a shop. You might pay out your *ss but in
the end you will feel more comfortable. DOH!
