<E36> Buying a service light reset tool.

Hello. 
I am looking for Oil/Service light reset tool. Came across a few ads in
magazines that sell this tool for 40 to 50 $ + shipping. They also give
warranty for the tool. 
Is this the right price for the tool or is there a easier way of resetting
these lights? Hope these aftermarket tools won't damage the electronics!
