JimC.chip, like Viagra, too much for old car to handle?

Folks:
Car at issue is an '85 325e, 192k, above average=20
mechanical and cosmetic condition, well maintained.
Problem: Best case - - blown head gasket (still=20
considering repairing it); Worst case - - cracked=20
head (will definitely replace vehicle).
Concern: Installed JimC. chip about two months ago.
I'm certainly not trying to lay any blame here, as the car
is old, high milage, and perhaps it's time has just come, but
I'm concerned that the re-mapping and higher revs may
have been too much for the old gal to handle (and no, I=20
haven't abused the increased performance, although I
DO love that chip!). If I do replace the gasket, would=20
it be prudent to return to the stock chip as the JimC.=20
chip may be a bit more than the old car can handle
(sort of like an overdose of Viagra?). Any similar=20
experiences or recs much appreciated.
Mike
325e (with watery oil and oily water)
