Matt,

One week, "ain't gonna cut it". Get in touch with the BMW club office, 
they have sources who can help. I tried, successfully, the German 
Tourist office in NY City, The factory can help. Hotels are high. 
consider alterenatives. REnt a BMW, go to Nurburgring and for $5 you 
can drive around the 14 mile long racetrack. You will probably be 
passed many times by exotic cars being tested by various factories; 
BMW, Porsche, Mercedes etc.

The factory tour is great, go South to the mountains, visit 
Schnitzer, take a side trip top Austria, go to Mulhousen (SP?) France 
for the Bugatti museum. Take your time, it's better than hurrying back 
to work.
