1985 325e

I purchased this BMW last week, low mileage 84k, body in a decent shape.

I have a question, when I turn the ignition key on, don't start it, the
check light blinks.
It keeps blinking until I start and drive away.
I tried to wait until it stops, to see if it would go out, but after 2
minutes it was still blinking.


Any Ideas why or how to get to the diagnostics to tell me why?
