'94 5&7 series blocks

Greetings:

I have been looking at model year 1994 5 and 7 series BMW's which I'm
looking to purchase. A posting on Ebay stated the following about 94
models:

"ALL 1994 4.0 litre engines in the 540 and 740 line where cast using a metal
alloy that reacted poorly with gasoline causing cylinder wall pitting and
compression loss. BMW's answer to this problem is to replace the engine with
the newer updated block that does not have this problem."
Is this a true statement? I've been looking at purchasing a '94 740il with
fairly high mileage, but this statement certainly has me concerned. Should
I be?
Thanks,
