performance exhaust

hi
i have a 97 328i and want to replace my exhaust with something like a
remus, supersprint, or etc. I don't want anything that is loud or
obnoxious, just a nice mellow hum to it.  anybody have any
recomendations, such as remus or hamann? Also, are the performance gains
noticable.? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
