I know the M3 uses a special Spark plug, I would check with Bosch (they are 
the OEM suplier to BMW) On my M44 1.9l motor they reccomended NOT to use the 
+4 and told me to use a cheaper bosch chromium 2 electrode plug..  sooooo...
