RE: 330 CI?
Well, here's the information that I received from my dealer this morning.
Regarding the new engine, The 3.0L I-6 will have about 225hp (as reported in
Car & Driver). It will be available for the X5 only, and is a brand-new
engine. This engine will not be put in to either the 3-series or 5-series
cars. Both of these lines will continue with the 2.8L six they have now.
Car & Driver had reported that the engine WOULD be in these cars, but at
present, it will not. At least, for now. ;-)
Regarding the M3, my dealer has suggested that the first people on the order
list will get their cars by summer. The stats as reported in Roundel, C &
D, etc., are all basically accurate -- 335-345 hp, 18" wheels, flares, etc.
At present, only the coupe is planned to be offered, however, my rep did
tell me that the letter-writing campaign to get the 4-door over here was
generating a lot of buzz at BMW NA. He only guessed that pricing would
follow the E36 model, which is to say that the M will likely be 10% - 15%
more than the 328i coupe.

Subject: 330 CI?
Hi all,
Just wondering. I heard that Europe might be getting a diesel 3.0 liter
E46. However, I thought I heard somewhere that there might be a gasoline
version (maybe the 3.0 liter from the X5?) coming down the line...anyone
here such a rumor? If so, anyone know when and details?
Also, anyone have any firm date/pricing on the new E46 M3? I heard spring
2000 and no pricing info yet...
Jim
