<E36 M3> Brake Light Circuit Alarm

The OBC on my '95 M3 is reporting a " Brake Light Circuit Failure",
however it
only does this intermittently. If I turn the car off after seeing the
alarm, the fault
is gone and stays gone anywhere from 5 minutes to the next day...I can't
seem to
find a pattern. I have checked all the rear brake light bulbs (including
the 3rd
brake light in the rear window) and all look fine. Has anyone
experienced this
before? Is it worth taking it to the dealer when I can't reproduce it on
command?
