E21 Rear Suspension Rattle

Hi folks,

Did any one of you come across the problem of a rattle when going over bumps
from the rear suspension in the area of the drivers side rear tire? I
checked for the obvious which was a tightly mounted jack, tight upper strut
mounting nuts (3 of them), lower strut mounting bolt/nut and all were ok.
The thing that looked suspicious was the rubber grommet surrounding the
lower strut mount loop. It appeared to be deteriorated and sliding off. I
could not tell without lifting the tire off the ground. Brakes work fine.
Any quick suggestions before my thorough look see this weekend would be
appreciated from those who have been there or done that.
