Hi fellow digesters,
I have a couple of really quick questions for the engine experts out there.
My 1994 318i has 232,000 kilometers, most of which has been accumulated on
highways. The oil has always been changed regularly... 3000 miles/5000
kilometers... the car has inspections I and II done religiously. For
whatever reason, the car has started smoking like a bugger... there is the a
strong smell of oil when I come to a stop... billows of smoke on hard
acceleration.
Is this valve guides/seals? Shouldn't the motor last a little longer than
this?
Two other things I should mention. Only when I started getting blown off the
line by dump trucks and little old ladies in Plymouth Volares did I
recognized that the cat was plugged... I fixed the problem, but I think it
took a while to determine, like 15,000 km.
Could this have caused the problem?
Any advise is appreciated.
Stephen
