Mono wiper arm for E30

Hello,
    I was wondering if it is possible to somehow remove the driver's side 
wiper arm and make the passenger's side wiper (which is actually in the 
middle of the car) go all the way across the windshield. I know that Korman 
has a mono wiper system for the e30, but I was excited until I saw the 
price... a tad over $500. That's a little more than I'd like to spend. So, is 
it possible to make the motor change direction later on? Or do something that 
will work. I know that it probably wont' work as well as the stock system, 
but I'd just like to do something to make the car differnt, and I don't 
really need the wiper's all that much (I live in California.)
