to stagger or not to stagger

is it a good idea to stagger the tires like the factory does with the m3
(17x7.5 front and 17x8.5 back) or is it better to say keep it all 17*8.0
all around?? i know at least this way i could rotate them.. or any other
suggestions??  any help would be appreciated
