Jim and Jon,
Actually, a spacer ring that fits the wheel is available from Tire Rack
- - cost about 3 bucks a piece. You may need to check clearance due to
offset differences, though, but Tire Rack has spacer plates as well
(much cheaper than H&R).
I have '98 540i 17" rims (8X17, 235/45 front; 9X17, 255/40 rear) on my
'88 635 CSi with them. Works great.
