323i or 328i??

This discussion may have all ready taken place, but I am considering one of 
there and don't know which way to go.  My initial feelings after driving both 
is that the 323i is a bit sluggish off the start, and maybe not so great a 
performer driving at lower speeds (around town, small stretches, etc)...any 
other thoughts on people who have compared these would be great!
