Service light reset

I need to reset the service lights on my daughter's 325es (1986), but I
don't want to buy the special tool. I read somewhere in one of these
FAQ's or postings about jumping (shorting out) two of the pins on the
module in the engine compartment- I believe it was something like 14 and
1 to reset the service interval lights.
Anyone up on this??
