E30 318i performance upgrades?

Fellow Forumers,

Hi all. I know someone asks this every three weeks or so (not that I had
noticed), but does anyone know how I can upgrade the performace on my 1985 E30
318i ? (I'm in Germany, so it's a Euro, not that that makes any difference).
Anywho, I know that there aren't any chips available, so is there anything else I
can do that is low cost?
