Hi Robert,
thank you so much for the info that you've sent me, it helped a lot.
Ok, I have to replace the muffler. I brought the car for inspection (which
has not been done yet, I have registered the car about 10 days ago). They
wanted something around $320, i.e. $240 for the muffler and over $60 for
the work. Of course, when I told them I'd bring my own muffler (both the
companies that you recommended (listed bellow) have it for $115 (made by
ANSA, Italy I believe), shipping for $27 or so), they refused saying that
they have better muffler from their supplier...
What do you suggest, is the one from ANSA (vertexauto and Euroasian) ok?
Or shall I let them do it? Can I actually replace it myself? How hard work
would that be?
Otherwise the inspection showed that the car is in very good shape which
sounds very good to me...
Thanks again for help,
- --Jan
BTW -- I could not find a way how to search or browse old messages on BMW
digest... the archives are all it has?
