E30 Purchase; Need Advise

Hi Gang,

A nephew of mine who's gonna be a freshman in college next fall is thinking
to purchase an '89 E30 325is Convertible with ~74 K miles on the clock and
obviously needs a lot of input about problems, recalls, price and just what
to watch out for before he parts with his hard earned money. He's also
looking for a reputable independent shop in the  SF East Bay Area to perform
a pre-purchase inspection.
