E30 Air Bags / ABS

First year for standard ABS on the E30 was 1986.   I don't know if it
was optional before that.

1990 was the first year for the driver's side air bag on the E30.   I don't
know if a passenger side air bag has ever been in an E30.

So, to answer your last question, '86 to '89 had ABS w/o airbags (the
best combination IMHO -- prevent the accident, and then the airbags
aren't needed, a friend of mine has a '95 Honda w/ air bags, but no
ABS -- stupid).
