E34 525i M20 Odometer - Faulthy

Hi all,

My E34 525i M20 odometer died on me (the older analog type not the newer
digital type odometer).
According to my mechanic, the gears inside the intrument panel controlling
the odo has broken so thats
why its not working. Apparently it is a common problem. Can anyone verify
this?. Anyone has a similar
problem with their cars?
