Your needed tool would make an excellent project
for a machine shop. Enroll in same at your local
school and build the tool. Construct the tool
of 4140, quench from 1600 degF and temper at =

400 DegF.

(I'm currently constructing a similar tool in
my shop class.)

Subject: BMW Special Tool Needed

Can anyone help me find (at other than the dealer for $60) the special
tool needed to disassemble a power steering rack and pinion? It is tool
number 32 1 110. I would call it a crows foot spanner. It looks like a
crows foot wrench, but instead of haveing an open-end wrench on the end,
it has a semi-circular opening with two lugs about 1/8" square
projecting down. IT is intended to reach around a shaft and engage two
slots in the end of a threaded bushing to unscrew the bushing. It needs
to be high strength as the tightening torque is 87-110 ft. lb.

Thanks for reading, and especially to anyone who can help.
