First pry the leather boot up and check the connection there.  You can
test the leads from both directions.  Test the leads going to the switch
with a continuity tester.  When the gear shifter is engaged in reverse,
the switch closes, thus completing the circuit loop.  If that doesn't
test, then the switch is bad.  The switch isn't an easy bugger to reach,
but with the proper length open-end wrench, you can get to it from the
passenger's side, near the top of the trans.  If it tests OK then test
the other leads for 12V.  There's no need remove the console.  Hope this
