Re: bmw-digest V9 #1043

I had a real tough time reaching the O2 sensor on my '86 325e. It stands
up in a tiny space between the transmission and body tunnel next to the
passenger seat.

I disconnected the catalytic converter at the exhaust header (6 nuts) and
at the center muffler (3 bolts/nuts). That allowed the catalytic converter
pipe to drop low enough for me to slip the wrench over the sensor. I was
really worried about taking off the pipe (would the nuts be rusted?), but
things worked out just fine.
