E30 Really Dumb BMW Owner....

Hi all,

I went on a camping trip and did the dumbest thing I've ever done. I
took my '86 325es off the road a little bit in the mountains to get as
close as I could to our camp site for easier unloading. My judgement of
the terrain was way off and I bottomed out the front of the car on a
large rock sticking slightly out of the ground. I cursed and carried on
like a lunatic at what I'd done, just praying that I didn't do anything
too bad ro the car. I couldn't see anything visibly wrong with the
underside of the car, so I slowly calmed myself and enjoyed the camping
trip. On the way back down to the city, Denver, I noticed my oil light
come on as I drove into the city. I stopped to check the oil and it was
about 3 - 3 1/2 quarts low so I filled it up, very concerned. The car
now will now leak bone dry in 24 hours, but i see oil covering the
crankcase around the oil filter, and well, basically the engine
compartment below the head is saturated. I looked under the car and
could see no visible crack or hole in the oil pan. So, my question is,
how can the oil be completely draining when the car is parked? Am I
missing something here?

Thanks,

- -Brent
