Musical chairs

I'm literally playing Musical Chairs in my '83 320i.  The driver's seat is
shot, and I'm in the process of swapping it with the barely used passenger
seat.  I've removed both seats from the car, and removed the tracks to swap.
In order to keep the tilt lever and seat belt latch on the proper sides, it
looks like I'm going to have to swap the backs of the seats as well, since
all that hardware is attached to them.  The problem is that I can't figure
out how the back detaches from the bottom.  Can anyone shed some light?
These are the standard E21 seats, not the Recaros.  They're also identical
to the seats in the later 2002s, and similar in design to the earlier ones.
If anyone has done this and can guide me, I'd very much appreciate it!
