Re: Kleen Wheels, I've heard bad things...



I don't know about them from experience either, but I'll point out something
interesting I noticed...  Rod made a number of Porsche references, so I'll
use my friend's Alfa Romeo 164 as an example (we can always learn from how
others do things!)  We pulled a wheel to check his rotors the other day, and
I was surprised to find OEM shields that very closely resemble Kleen Wheels,
though a bit smaller.  Apparently the 164 eats pads and rotors for
breakfast, with a straight-6, front drive configuration, and the fact that
people who drive Alfas tend to drive them fast (as any good car should be).
It looks like these small shields were built into the design from the
beginning for exactly that purpose.  It is very possible that Rod is correct
about brakes running hotter with these.  Maybe that's also part of the
reason the Alfa's pads and rotors have such a short life.
