Check your Lug bolts

Hey everyone,
Yesterday, I learned something very valuable and would like to share it with
ya.....especially other newbees like me. Coming from my German course last
night, I had a flat on my E30 '83 323i. It has 15" BBS basket-weaved rims
and the spare is the original 14". Pulled into a gas station and changed the
tire. Started to take off and ...CLANG--CLANG--CLANG. Holy sheep-sh!t, what
the Hades is that. Thought it was the splash plate rubbing, so pulled the
tire off and bent it back a tad. Tried again...CLANGING once again. Then it
hit me...with the BBS rims, they require longer lug bolts. When using them
with the original 14" rim, they were WAY-WAY to long and hitting the
emergency brake mechanism within the hub. Well, had to leave the car there
overnight cause I didn't have a set of the original lugs with me. So, here
is my tip-of-the-day for you bimwads that have upgraded your rims which
require longer lug bolts; using your original rim as the spare. Keep 1 set
of the original lugs in the trunk at all times. Today I bought 2 new tires,
and tomorrow will get a set of the original lug bolts. Hopefully by doing
this, you won't be in put in this situation...especially calling the wife at
11:30 pm to pick you up and then listening to her all the way home.

Drive safe and take care..
