<E30> AFM

Howdy all,
                  When the Bentley Manual says that the resistance on the
AFM should
"Rise steadily through out flap operation".
Does anyone know what the starting and finishing values are?, because while
trying to diagnose idle problems, I've found now that the AFM resistance is
not a 'steady' increase, rather a shakey one.  When the flap is at stop, the
resistance on the AFM is about 2.2k.  Is this normal, or is it . .stuffed?
