Actually BMW doesn't want you to 'warm-up' much at all. They advise against
prolonged warm-up's (more than 30 secs). The proceedure is to start up and
once the engine is running smoothly, drive off and keep engine speed down
until the engine has warmed up (say under 3,000 RPM's).
