<E30> fault code 1223

everyone,

yes, i have a failed coolant temp sensor.  i have been having some cold
idle/operating problems recently and tonite the check engine light came on.
so  i did the pedal pump trick to see the fault code and low and
behold....1223...coolant temp sensor.  has anyone ever replaced one of
these?  i checked the bentley manual and it gives some instructions on how
to replace it.  if anyone has done this i would like to hear about it as i
be replacing it soon.  thanks!!
