DME setting code

I read a couple of FAQ's about DME settings on the E28 535i.  Can anyone tell
me the settings for the DME for my 82 528e that control timing and fuel
mixture?  It has the 007 not 027.  I would also like to know if I can retrofit
the 027 with the existing wire harness so I can use a performance chip.
