<E30> belt dressing
everyone,
recently i have posted regarding a noise from my engine compartment which
resembled a belt noise but not exactly. because of this i checked the fan
clutch using the "stop the blade" method. because the blade was easily
stoppable i determined that i needed a new fan clutch. i also figured that
the noise was the result of it also. however, today i was applying a
liberal amount of belt dressing to the steering pump belt and low and behold
not only did that belt noise stop but the other noise also. i decided to
spray the dressing on all belts for good measure. apparently there were a
lot of noises that sorta blended together. once i applied the dressing the
"engine" is much quieter. of course, now i hear the alternator whine.....
has anyone else used belt dressing and what are opinions of the use of it?
a few people have recommended its use but i am curious what others think
also. thanks in advance.
thanks to rob levinson for the UUC digest and thanks to those who have made
the BMW digest an improved forum.
