Did I miss something

Hi fellow digesters,

Was it not long ago that someone was called to the carpet for using the 'N' word
and was actually called a racist for it. In that case he was recounting a scene
he had witnessed and to my knowledge had not used it in a derogatory way but was
still assailed in this digest. While I am also sick and tired of the current
civil war going on in 'our' digest it still does not excuse any language that is
an attack on any group. I have always found the info provided (and have e-mailed
him personally for help) by Brett Anderson to be very helpful and is one of the
reasons I have stuck with the digest but I cannot condone in any way the use of
the word faggot to describe any person whether they are gay or not. Particularly
after what happened in North (or was it South) Dakota. What bothers me more I
suppose is the lack of condemnation for this violation of human dignity. Where
is all the anger or do you only feel indignant when it applies to you or is
politically correct to do so. Or is it easier to not condem when doing so may
lead people to believe 'you are one of them'. I find it remarkable that people
are so sorry to see Brett go and seem to not care about what he said. I too miss
the info that he provided but I believe he needs to both apologize to the digest
and explain the reason he felt it necessary to use such a disgusting word. I'm
sorry Brett but your wrong and I can't let you or anyone slide on this one.

P.S. I live in SF and maybe I'm a little sensitive to the use of that word but I
have seen the consequences of the attitudes that it develops.
