     To the best of my knowledge (and I do know my Fords), Ford never made 
     an inline 8 in a production car.  There were a number of different 
     companies making inline 8's made during the pre-war era, but not Ford. 
     After experimenting unsuccessfully with an X-8 during the mid-late 
     20's, Ford introduced their version of the V-8 in mid 1932.
     
     Anyway, back to the BMWs.  I hope...
