88/535is vacuum port

Hi gang,
I was just changing oil in my old 88/535is when I noticed an open vacuum
port nipple in the very bottom side of the intake.This nipple was threaded
with a small jet inside with about an in. of braided vacuum hose connected
open.I suspect to connect a fiber vacuum line.Can anyone enlighten me on
this matter?
