There are 2 blower motors in every e28 (at least those with A/C)
The main blower is in the uppper part of the dash - actually you get to
it by removing the black cowl panel from the upper part of the fire wall
(in the engine conpartment). Then you have to remove the 2 black plastic
shrouds over the squirrel cage and then the blower comes out after
releasing the snap connector and wiring connectors in the centre.
The other one is the A/C blower, which is in the lower centre console -
you can see it through those vents on the side of the console.
You have to pull the lower console out to get to that one - have fun!
I assume that is what he means by identifying which blower.
The A/C blower only runs when you have the A/C button on.
