number of US E28 M5s

According to Bill Howards July 1991 End Piece the number of E28 M5s sold in
the US was more than 1400. The class action lawsuit was a result of BMW
telling buyers the a limited edition of 500 cars would be sold.  Bill's
column states that BMW sold 403, 547, 273 and 515 M5s in calender years
1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990. I think that the outcome of the lawsuit was that
owners got a coupon from BMW NA towards the purchase of a new BMW. (or
something like that).
